The National Heritage institute and “Aurelian Sacerdoţeanu” Vâlcea County Museum – Măldăreşti Museum Complex, “Alexandru Ştefulescu” Gorj County Museum, “Spiru Haret” National High School of Târgu Jiu, have co-operatively continued a cultural education project financed by the Administration of the National Cultural Fund – AFCN titled „Un program arhitectural dispărut – Culele din România. Trecut și perspective” - KULE (“A forgotten architectural project – Romania’s old kulas. Past and future” – THE KULAS).

The 2nd phase of the project that took place on the 22nd of October 2013 covered two events: the formal opening ceremony of the exhibition and the round table, both located in the Măldăreşti Museum Complex, on the premises of Vâlcea County Museum.


The formal opening ceremony in Măldăreşti took place took place on the 22nd of October at 13.00 hours and was followed by a round table starting at 14.00 hours.


The main purpose of the exhibition and the round table was to discuss on the protection and preservation of this architectural program. “Scurt îndrumar pentru administratorii şi proprietarii de cule – A short guide for kula managers and owners” and the website dedicated to the project were both launched during the same round table.

Măldărești event leafletMăldărești event leafletThe presentations and discussions that took place during the round table were attended not only by members of the project team and partners, but also by local government representatives, mayors who manage kulas, representatives of the pre-university education, specialists from cultural directorates and county museums that manage kulas - historical monuments, architects, clergy representatives from important religious places in the area: the Mother Superior of Hurezi Monastery – a historical monument protected internationally (UNESCO), parish priests from Urşani, Olari and Măldăreşti (Vâlcea County) – historical monuments protected internationally, tourists who had come to visit the Măldăreşti kulas, etc. Pupils from Măldăreşti school and Constantin Brâncoveanu Vocational School in Horezu also participated in these events.
