Runcurel Village, the Commune of Mătăsari, Gorj County
Runcurel village will soon be history due to the mining expansion in the area. The inhabitants began to be moved from the precincts of the village. For the moment, the area can be accessed from the national road Targu Jiu – Motru near Roşiuţa settlement on an unpaved road, which is totally inaccessible to a usual car, so the best road would be from the Mătăsari Village.
This is not a public building.
Fortification elements can be seen on this building, that are specific to the 19th century. The building was named after its former owner, Eftimie Nicolaescu, an inhabitant of Runcurel Village.
In 2010 the building was still standing, but nowadays the roof has collapsed. This a two-storey building made of wood; the building has a shingle roof. The ground floor is formed of a cellar and a room with stairs connecting it to the upper floor. The upper floor is formed of two rooms and a veranda the ceiling of which stands on pillars with wooden decorations. The house was probably plaster coated in the 20th century.
