Brabova village, Brabova district, Dolj county
From the city of Craiova, on the road to Cernele – Breasta - Predeşti – Pietroaia- Brabova, at about 30 km.
This is not a public building.
The kula was erected in the 18th century by Izvoreni boyars. Initially, it had two floors. In 1841, the estate of Brabova was bought by Radu Geblescu. The new owner modified the kula, by adding a third floor, with a turret. The wooden girdle was added at the beginning of the 20th century.
The kula has a compact, rectangular layout. It has three floors. On the ground floor there is the cellar, which is accessible from the inside, through the staircase. The cellar is also accessible from the outside. The lodging area is on the upper floors. The second floor, added later to the kula, has a turret, with trilobial arcades. It was reinforced, at the beginning of the 20th century, with a wooden girdle. The arcades on the turret's sides were closed with windows, possibly when the girdle was added. On the kula's Northern side there is an extension that houses the privy, which is accessible from the first floor, from the inside, and from the second floor, from the girdle. Embrasures are to be seen on the first floor, around the staircase.
